iPhone Challengers: Can they survive?

Since Apple introduced the iPhone a few years back, several legitimate mobile phone manufacturers and those so called “not legitimate ones” have tried to introduce challengers to the very popular mobile phone.

There’s the iPhone look-alike from China called ChinaiPhone (read story here), which flooded the mobile phone stores of China and other Asian countries where the iPhone is not available yet. The phone looks exactly like the iPhone, but take a closer look and you will see the difference.

Early this year, Garmin has introduced Nüvifone, an iPhone look-alike primed with 3G mobile broadband connectivity and GPS (read story here). The nüvifone is an all-in-one, sleek and slim, touchscreen device that combines a premium phone, mobile web-browser, and cutting-edge personal navigator.

World’s no. 5 mobile phone maker LG has also jumped into the iPhone bandwagon and introduced the LG-KF510 (read story here) also known as “Touch Lighting Phone”.

The “Touch Lighting Phone” is a 3-megapixel touch-screen phone that is 10.9 millimeters in width. The phone also adopts the “Interactive Touch Lighting’’ technology on the surface, enabling users to change images. The handset also features an “Auto Luminance Control’’ function in a full light-emitting diode touch-pad on the front to save energy.

And just yesterday, unofficial report of Nokia producing a mobile phone that would challenge the iPhone came into press (read story here). The number one handset maker is reportedly working on its first touchscreen phone codenamed “Tube” aimed at competing with the iPhone.

The popularity of the product is really measured on the number of its challengers. The iPhone has indeed changed the way people use the mobile phone. And with the number of its challengers increasing regularly, iPhone is no doubt the best mobile phone in the world.

Now here’s the question: can these iPhone challengers survive the wave and shake one of Apple’s most precious baby?
